Sick Building Syndrome

Objective

To share stories of thermal discomfort in air conditioned spaces.

Outcome

Students will realize that air conditioning doesn’t necessarily imply thermal comfort.

Procedure

Step 1: Ask the students:

1. to share the stories when they felt sick inside a building despite being in an air conditioned space.
2. What was the reason for their discomfort?

Step 2: Students share their stories after reflection.  

Step 3: Note the points causing thermal discomfort on the blackboard.
