To enable students the ancient skill of being able to tell time by looking at the Sun.
Outcome
Students will develop an interest in following the Sun movement and observe how the position of the Sun affects the facades and its design.
Requirements
None
Prerequisites
Ask students to not carry watches or any other time telling device on activity day.
Procedure
Step 1: Take the students out of the classroom
Step 2: Walk around the college and neighbouring buildings
Step 3: Ask students to guess the time based on the sun’s position and their shadow.
Step 4: Observe the sunlight and heat’s play on the facades of the neighbouring buildings
Step 5: Repeat this activity 4 times a day: Morning – around 9 am, Noon – 12 pm, 3 pm and Evening – 6 pm
