Objective:

To reflect on the decrease in air coolers in hot & dry climates over time.

Outcome:

Students will realize that evaporative air coolers are an extremely efficient and just method to cool spaces during summers in hot & dry climate.

Prerequisites:

Fundamental knowledge on Evaporative air coolers

Procedure:

Step 1: Initiate a discussion in the class by posing the following question to the students: 

  1. Do they use Evaporative air coolers or have they used it in their home?
  2. Why do we not see air coolers in urban homes in hot and dry climates when they clearly sufficed as thermal comfort providers prior to the advent of escalating air conditioning sales?

Step 2: Give a minute to students to think on the posed question. 

Step 3: Students share their views on the posed questions.  

Step 4: Reflect on the collective findings
