{"id":2279,"date":"2023-05-31T05:18:27","date_gmt":"2023-05-31T05:18:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fairconditioning.org\/fc-activity\/?post_type=activity&#038;p=2279"},"modified":"2024-02-05T06:46:30","modified_gmt":"2024-02-05T06:46:30","slug":"building-material-suitability","status":"publish","type":"activity","link":"https:\/\/fairconditioning.org\/fc-activity\/activity\/building-material-suitability\/","title":{"rendered":"Building Material Suitability"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Objective and Outcome: <\/em><\/strong>Students will learn to develop varied perspectives around the suitability of building materials considering the thermal properties, climatic zones, local context, historical precedence and availability.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Prerequisites: <\/em><\/strong>Basic know-how about properties of&nbsp; varied building materials, climatic zones, awareness of vernacular Architecture around India and passive design principles<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Procedure:&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 1: <\/em><\/strong>Have prepared statements or co-create with the students on building materials for different climatic zones that enable agreeing to or not&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example:<em> <\/em><em>\u201cBurnt clay brick is a better building material for walls compared to sandstone in Rajasthan\u201d OR Laterite stone is an appropriate building material in mountainous regions in North India.<\/em><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 2: <\/em><\/strong>Let two chairs be kept. \u201cAgree Chair\u201d and \u201cDisagree Chair\u201d.
