{"id":2382,"date":"2023-06-13T07:24:31","date_gmt":"2023-06-13T07:24:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fairconditioning.org\/fc-activity\/?post_type=activity&#038;p=2382"},"modified":"2023-06-13T07:24:31","modified_gmt":"2023-06-13T07:24:31","slug":"air-flow-ink-bottle","status":"publish","type":"activity","link":"https:\/\/fairconditioning.org\/fc-activity\/activity\/air-flow-ink-bottle\/","title":{"rendered":"Air Flow &amp; Ink Bottle"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-2\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Objective:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>To demonstrate that a duct increases air flow\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outcome:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will understand that a duct supports airflow and enhances the air flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>2 similar sized bottles with plastic caps(ink bottle size) containing a coloured liquid, 2 plastic basins with water, stopwatch<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prerequisites:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>A conceptual knowledge of&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>flow of air<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ducting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Both air and water act similar as fluid mediums&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Procedure:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 1: <\/em><\/strong>Make a small hole in the plastic cap of the small coloured bottle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 2: <\/em><\/strong>Start the stopwatch.<strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>Immerse the bottle into the basin with water. Observe the water changing color as the ink flows out into the water.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 3<\/em><\/strong>: Allow the entire coloured ink to flow out into the water. Record the time when the bottle is empty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 4<\/em><\/strong>: Take the other coloured bottle and make a small hole to fit a straw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 5<\/em><\/strong>: Reduce the size of the straw by cutting in the middle and insert the straw into the cap of the bottle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 6<\/em><\/strong>: Immerse the bottle with the straw into the basin with clear water.
