To identify climatic conditions of a classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students will realize that climatic conditions are an outcome of temperature as well as humidity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Requirements<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Heater, Humidifier, Air Conditioner, Sling Psychrometer, Psychrometric Chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prerequisites<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

None<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Procedure<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Step 1:<\/em><\/strong> Identify two classrooms to perform the activity. The first classroom should have an air conditioner inside it, whereas equip the second room with a heater and a humidifier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2:<\/em><\/strong> Set the air conditioning temperature at 18\u00b0C, and leave it on for 20 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3:<\/em><\/strong> In the other room, switch on the humidifier and the heater and leave it on for 20 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4:<\/em><\/strong> After 20 minutes, take the students to each room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 5:<\/em><\/strong> Ask the students to identify which city the atmosphere of the room feels like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 6:<\/em><\/strong> Note dry bulb and wet bulb temperature of each room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 7:<\/em><\/strong> Plot the dry bulb and wet bulb temperature for each room on a psychrometric chart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 8:<\/em><\/strong> Estimate the specific and absolute humidity of each room.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
