{"id":2544,"date":"2023-06-26T10:31:57","date_gmt":"2023-06-26T10:31:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fairconditioning.org\/fc-activity\/?post_type=activity&#038;p=2544"},"modified":"2023-06-26T10:31:57","modified_gmt":"2023-06-26T10:31:57","slug":"idec-physical-model","status":"publish","type":"activity","link":"https:\/\/fairconditioning.org\/fc-activity\/activity\/idec-physical-model\/","title":{"rendered":"IDEC: Physical Model"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-2\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Objective:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>To exercise on scaled model of IDEC<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outcome:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will understand how Direct and Indirect Evaporative Cooling systems work with hands-on experience of model making.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Panels (of what material, type?) for Heat Exchanger, Water, Water pipes, Fan, Water tank, Float valve, Air blower, Cardboard<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prerequisites:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>A conceptual knowledge of<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Evaporative cooling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Direct Evaporative cooling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Indirect Evaporative cooling<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Procedure:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 1: <\/em><\/strong>Organise the class into smaller groups of students to work on components individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 2:<\/em><\/strong> Create a structure with four walls, roof and floor to mimic an actual room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 3: <\/em><\/strong>Create two kinds of panels to allow dry and wet air streams. Make the panels of two different colours to distinguish their purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 4: <\/em><\/strong>Assemble them alternatively. This becomes a heat exchanger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 5: <\/em><\/strong>Place the water pipe above these panels.
