{"id":2568,"date":"2023-06-27T07:17:47","date_gmt":"2023-06-27T07:17:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fairconditioning.org\/fc-activity\/?post_type=activity&#038;p=2568"},"modified":"2023-06-28T05:25:37","modified_gmt":"2023-06-28T05:25:37","slug":"radiant-cooling-effect-from-a-pre-cooled-room","status":"publish","type":"activity","link":"https:\/\/fairconditioning.org\/fc-activity\/activity\/radiant-cooling-effect-from-a-pre-cooled-room\/","title":{"rendered":"Radiant Cooling Effect from a Pre-cooled Room"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-2\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Objective:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>To experience the radiant cooling effect from a pre cooled room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outcome:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will comprehend the cooling effect from radiant cooling systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>AC in a room<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prerequisites:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>A conceptual knowledge of radiant and structure cooling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Procedure:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 1: <\/em><\/strong>Take students to a non artificially cooled room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 2: <\/em><\/strong>Students write down the answer to the following question: \u2018On a scale of 1-10 (1 being highly uncomfortable and 10 being highly comfortable), how thermally comfortable do you feel inside the room?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 3: <\/em><\/strong>Meanwhile switch on the AC in another room and leave it on for 30 minutes till the time it cools the entire room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 4: <\/em><\/strong>Ask the students to enter this room and rate the thermal comfort level as experienced again in this room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 5:<\/em><\/strong> Students compare both the responses and identify which score is greater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 6:<\/strong> Discuss the following questions after the experience:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Was the thermal comfort score higher in the pre-cooled room than naturally ventilated room? Why is it so? What principle of heat is working there?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Was the thermal comfort score lower in the pre-cooled room than naturally ventilated room? Why is it so?
