{"id":2625,"date":"2023-06-27T09:24:33","date_gmt":"2023-06-27T09:24:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fairconditioning.org\/fc-activity\/?post_type=activity&#038;p=2625"},"modified":"2023-06-27T09:24:33","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T09:24:33","slug":"sun-time-and-shadow","status":"publish","type":"activity","link":"https:\/\/fairconditioning.org\/fc-activity\/activity\/sun-time-and-shadow\/","title":{"rendered":"Sun, Time and Shadow"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-2\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Objective<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>To enable students the ancient skill of being able to tell time by looking at the Sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outcome<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will develop an interest in following the Sun movement and observe how the position of the Sun affects the facades and its design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>None<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prerequisites<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Ask students to not carry watches or any other time telling device on activity day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Procedure<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 1: <\/em><\/strong>Take the students out of the classroom&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 2: <\/em><\/strong>Walk around the college and neighbouring buildings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Step 3<\/em><\/strong>: Ask students to guess the time based on the sun\u2019s position and their shadow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> Observe the sunlight and heat\u2019s play on the facades of the neighbouring buildings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 5:<\/strong> Repeat this activity 4 times a day: Morning &#8211; around 9 am, Noon &#8211; 12 pm, 3 pm and Evening &#8211; 6 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">References<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>None<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Objective To enable students the ancient skill of being able to tell time by looking at the Sun.
